Bikini Machine have really achieved something-going against the grain, they’ve made old from new! The idea might seem crazy, but it soon shows itself to be a real formula for hits, the perfect blend of vintage sounds and electro power.

But don’t get it wrong - Bikini Machine aren’t another example of fashion following retro merchants. Their references are spot on, playing through valve amps, and with an innate sense of melody. Their passion for the sixties doesn’t stop there, as their stage name was inspired by B-movie ‚Doctor Goldfoot and the Bikini Machine’.

Pat ( bass/drums/vocals), Fred ( drums/vocals/keys), Sam ( samples/keys), Franck ( guitar/ bass/vocals ) and Mik ( guitar/drums/keys ) go back a long way, playing together in Skippies and the Magic Surfers. They were brought up on the Transmusicales Festival ( yearly in their hometown, Rennes, Brittany ), and tinged with a Breton tendency towards ‚festive rock’. An explosive combination.

It all started as a bit of a gamble - with a concert in 2001. That set the tone, Bikini Machine would be a live group, or nothing. Things took off quickly - booked for loads of concerts, they replayed the Transmusicales the following year, this time as one of the main attractions. At home on stage, they take chances, swapping instruments, always joking. Multi instrumentalists to a man, everyone plays, nobody loses, especially the public.

Recording an album seemed like the next logical step. Ideas played out on stage just needed to be put down in their Rennes’ studio. But they didn’t do things the easy way - they could have gone for a sound swamped by the 60’s samples of their friend DJ André Roque. However, they chose to keep just a few of these basic elements to work with, preferring to go for the beefed up vibe they’d used on their cover of Have a Love by the Sonics. In this way, the exception became the rule.

The sub-culture of 50’s/ 60’s America is used simply as their blank canvas, Bikini Invasions, failed Intergalactic voyages, hymns to Santa Claus, belated Beatniks, nothing’s spared, and yet Bikini Machine inject life into the formula. A blast of Danelectro, or a groovy Farfisa, and the Machine creates its own universe.

Bored thirty somethings will be reawakened by forgotten garage hymns, fashion victims will unselfconsciously whistle Bongos and Burgers, and dancers from another age will do the ‚Bum Bum Boogie’. Its gonna be good!

The result? Electro, 60’s Super Soul, released 2003 on their first album „An Introduction to Bikini Machine“

In 2005 the band released their second album as a tribute to the great french chansonnier Jacques Dutronc, „Bikini Machine joue Dutonc“. Légère Recordings puts this album 2006 for the first time in Germany out, including three Bonus Tracks and the videoclip fort the secret hit Monkey Bum Bum Boogie (in autumn 2006 this track becomes the soundtrack fort he new BMW X3 Snow TV Spot).

For the release of the album BIKINI MACHINE hit the road for the very first time to Germany to show their fantastic live qualities during two Shows at PopUp Leipzig and Roter Salon Berlin.

At the same time they work on their new album Daily Music Cookin’ which is filled again with their own dynamic songs. Daily Music Cookin’ will be released January 29th and BIKINI MACHINE will do some great concerts in Germany from February 27th to March 3rd.

BIKINI MACHINE will be touring Germany 2007 !!!
